1872
- Harry O'Brien gathered crews of oarsmen, decked them out in Oxford
and Cambridge blues, and formed
the Argonaut Rowing Club.
1873 - first Argonaut football club was started under the guidance
of head coach H.T. Glazebrook.
- Argonauts play one game in 1873 against the University of Toronto,
and two against the Hamilton Tigers.
1883 - Ontario Rugby Football Union was formed. Under the direction
of coach A.H. Campbell, the Argonauts
defeat U of T 23-4, and Ottawa City 9-7, to win the championship.
1895-97 - Argonauts bowed out of competition after a dispute over
professionalism.
1909 - Argos begin play in VARSITY STADIUM.
